Depositing from Nigeria

Is it safe — and legal — to deposit from Nigeria?

The answer is never a brand name. It is your country × the broker: the entity your address gets, the protection behind it, and what SEC Nigeria and the Central Bank of Nigeria says. All 40 verdicts for Nigeria are computed below, checked on October 22, 2026.

Facts checked on October 22, 2026

The legal picture in Nigeria

Nigeria has no local licence for offshore retail forex platforms. SEC Nigeria licenses local capital-market operators and has repeatedly warned residents against unregistered trading platforms; the Central Bank restricts using naira cards to fund offshore trading accounts.

The locally authorised route

There is no locally licensed retail forex route in Nigeria. The regulated local doors are SEC-licensed stockbrokers on the Nigerian Exchange — a different product from offshore forex/CFD platforms.

The viable minimum in Nigeria

about ₦300,000 (about $200). Affiliate pages advertise $5–$10 minimums. At the smallest normal lot sizes, an account under about $200 is consumed by spread and one normal losing streak — the minimum that survives the mechanics, not the minimum the platform accepts.

Your payment rails

Minimums and rails checked on October 22, 2026. Advertised minimums are the platforms' own published figures — accepted minimums, not viable ones.
